If you have an interest to design and develop equipment fabrication designs and enjoy project management, then this is the perfect job for you! We are looking for a Fabrication Designer for our Surrey Rail location.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare engineering designs, engineering calculations, and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other required information.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors and support them in the manufacturing and procurement process.
  • Administer project plans, schedules, work hours and budgets for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree or related experience in mechanical engineering/design
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a mechanical draftsperson/designer, project manager or similar position, preferably in a job shop or small batch run production environment
  • Proven proficiency using 3D design software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Proficiency using 2D drafting software, AutoCad preferred
  • Hands-on production or troubleshooting experience an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience designing welded fabrications, machinery components, and hydraulic systems. Experience designing electrical control systems an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of drawing standards, including the proper use of welding symbols, material specifications, and GD&T
  • A tenacious personality that will not let an issue be left unresolved
  • Attention to detail and produces high quality work to deadline
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
